Evie Frye
(Assassins Creed: Syndicate Video Game, 2015)
Costume build for ComicCon. Reference images from Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate. What drew me to this costume was the badass character Evie Frye, with all the layers and intricacies. As with all my costumes, I was working on a small budget and used what I could find for cheap or already owned.
Coat
I found a basic coat on eBay that I was confident I could alter to what I wanted. The changes I made included adding extra panels, creating a corset back, a pauldron with a way to attach a cape, new collar and front details.
I used leftover fabrics from the coat, as well as new pieces I had bought. All buttons and embellishments I already owned.
Undercoat and Accessories
Again I bought a cheap base piece to work with to create the undercoat/waistcoat, and altered it for what I wanted. I also used the hood that I had taken off the coat and attached it here, after making some changes, like adding red lining and decals.
I used clothes I already owned such as a shirt and trousers. Other items I made from scraps, like the leg straps, a couple of belts, and a bag made from foam.
Gauntlet
Made from cardboard and foam, and faux leather material, with working mechanism for the hidden hand knife. It retracts manually by pulling it and detracts with a string mechanism attached to a loop that is pulled.
Details made with string and foam.
Pieces painted to look like metal/metallic, bronze, gold and silver.
Cane
One of Evie’s statement pieces is her cane. I created the topper out of balled up tinfoil and clay, as this allowed me to sculpt easily.
The topper was then added to an old curtain pole cut to size and attached with foam to secure it and finally painted copper to match my references.
